The 33rd AFRA TWGM from 18 to 22 July 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda

The AFRA TWGM meeting was held in Kigali, Rwanda from 18 – 22 July 2022 and was hosted by Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA). The meeting was attended by 39 participants including 33 AFRA National Coordinators (NCs), AFRA Chair, the 3 Chairs of the AFRA Committees, AUC representative, 4 officials from the IAEA and officials from Rwanda supporting the event.

32nd Meeting of AFRA Representatives

The 32nd Meeting of AFRA Representatives was convened on 9th September in advance of the 65th IAEA General Conference and was attended by more than 124 high-level delegates of AFRA State Parties, 88 virtually and 36 in-person. The meeting participants included 24 Ambassadors from African Permanent Missions to the IAEA, and they were joined by a delegate of the United States who participated as an observer.

AFRA celebrates 25 years of cooperation with the IAEA

AFRA, or the African Regional Cooperative Agreement for Research Development and Training related to Nuclear Science and Technology, celebrates 25 years of cooperation with the IAEA this year. AFRA, an intergovernmental agreement which seeks to maximize the utilization of available infrastructure and expertise in Africa in the field of nuclear science and technology, entered into force on 4 April 1990.
